Border Angels and others show up to protest Joe Arpaio appearance at LaSuer fundraiser in San Diego

Friday night at the Marina Village Conference Center in San Diego, protesters and counter-protesters alike showed up to greet Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was in town attending a fund raising dinner for San Diego Sheriff candidate, Jay LaSuer. As you can see in the video, it wasn't easy for me to get anyone to speak directly on their disapproval of Arpaio, however, I was able to obtain a piece of literature one of their group was circulating. I have translated it into English to the best of my ability, which appears below the video...

Sheriff Arpaio is in charge of the Department of Aluacil Maricopa County Arizona

Under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the 287g program, sheriff's officers are trained to perform immigration law, but regulations implementing the program.

Under the program 287g, Sheriff Arpaio arrested suspect who seems to be undocumented - that convert the entire white population of America in its operating discriminiatorios - Sheriff Arpaio and his officers use this program as a pretext to harass the population in America Maricopa County

Sheriff Arpaio used tactics outside the law to intimidate those who oppose it, including judges, lawyers, and other public officials.

Sheriff Arpaio allows paramilitary groups, private and armed civilians who participate in their operational officers. He has become a hero for violent and racist groups.

Sheriff Arpaio mocks migrants detained in your county - forcing them to parade in color pink underwear to humiliate them.

There are more than 3,000 legal complaints against Sheriff Arpaio, yet apart is being investigated by the FBI and the Justice Department.

Sheriff Arpaio's tactics, to stop, harass, and punish an entire population will generate more tension to the Mexican community and America in San Diego County when a sheriff in San Diego takes his controversial methods

The 287g program easily allows abuse of authority because there is no way accountable to government, much less to the affected population.

The organized community of San Diego is in solidarity with the people of Arizona who have lived the terror of racist and inhumane policies of Sheriff Arpaio that undermine human dignity.

Now, bear in mind this is just one man's opinion [mine], but based on what I've been able to ascertain from Friday's experience combined with reading up on 287g, these people are actually protesting enforcement of the law, and are simply applying Arpaio's face to it because he's especially adept at his job. The information they're circulating makes a lot of general accusations without citing anything specific, with the possible exception of the pink prison wear... Which ALL of his inmates wear, not just the "migrants". The worst thing that came to the mind of the one gentleman who briefly spoke to me in the video were "migrants" getting stopped for "broken taillights"... Somebody needs to clue him in to the fact that I know people, WHITE people, who've been pulled over for simply having one tag light out... Not broken mind you, just burned out...

Perhaps next time I'll have to try and find out why these people feel they're not subject to the same laws as everyone else... Then again, maybe those are precisely the kinds of questions they're trying to avoid by not speaking with me...
